What should my son/daughter expect
This youth pioneer trek activity will be held in a wilderness setting. We will be “roughing it”, so to speak. The Stake will provide adequate food, restroom facilities, safe drinking water, and educational activities. Each participant should condition themselves physically for this experience. Specifically, each participant must be able to complete a minimum requirement of walking/running three (3) miles on level ground in 60 minutes or less without undue stress or strain.

What are the Trek Dates?
Thursday, June 23 through Saturday, June 25, 2016
Who can go on the Trek?
Youth ages 14-18.
You must be 14 years old by September 1 or starting 9th grade this fall.
Youth who graduate from high school this year may also attend.
Where is the Trek location?
The Trek will be in Wolf Creek State Park on Shelby Lake.

How much walking will we do?
We will walk and pull handcarts from 5 to 10 miles each day. It will be important to be in shape and to have sturdy tennis shoes/boots. Start now to exercise and to break in your shoes. You will be glad you did!
Do I need to wear pioneer clothes?
Yes Trek participants are responsible to obtain their own pioneer style clothing. Easy patterns for bonnets, skirts, and aprons are available on our trek website. Our stake has a clothing specialist for Trek. Contact Caroline Embleton if you have questions or would like help making any of your pioneer clothing.

Can I come to Trek late or leave early?
No. If you attend Trek you must arrive and leave with the main group.
Can I bring my iPod or cell phone?
No. Cell phones, iPods, MP3 players, or gaming devices are not allowed.
Can I wear sunglasses?
Yes.
What are we going to eat?
Trek is a physically demanding experience and trekkers will be provided with plenty of food and drink and most meals will prepared in the family groups.
Will there be medical personnel on hand in case of emergency?
Yes. We will have a doctor on hand throughout the Trek.
