Pioneer Handcart Trek
June 23 -25, 2016 ~ Wolf Creek State Park
Springfield Illinois Stake
CTR - Cross the River 2016 Trek Theme

Have you ever been to Nauvoo? Have you ever stood on the bank of the Mississippi River? Have you ever stood there on a really cold wintry day? On that very cold wintry day in February 1846, would you have had the faith to CROSS THE RIVER?
Imagine yourself, your lives have been threatened, your prophet has been murdered, you have been told to get out, you don’t know where you are going, you don’t know what you will face. You only know that your leaders have instructed. Do you have the faith to follow and CROSS THE RIVER?
Now liken this to yourselves. What are you told by your prophet and leaders to do today? What unknown wilderness is out there that you don’t know how you can do it, you don’t know what you will do, you don’t understand why?
Do you have faith that if you follow the prophet things will be alright, maybe even better? Can you do hard things? We testify to you that if you have faith you CAN do hard things! You CAN withstand the currents of this day! You CAN “press forward with a steadfastness in Christ”.
Come experience this summer some of what the pioneers experienced and strengthen your faith to be able to CROSS THE RIVER in your own lives.
